Largest shipment of vaccines arrived

The largest shipment of Covid vaccine came from China to combat corona virus. This time 2 crore 4 lakh 60 thousand dose of vaccine has reached Dhaka from China. The largest consignment of Corona vaccines came as part of a joint venture agreement between the Government of Bangladesh, the Asian Development Bank and UNICEF.

This information was given in a notification of UNICEF on Tuesday (December 28).

According to the source, there have been several shipments of vaccines from China before. However, this time the largest consignment of vaccines from the country reached Bangladesh on Tuesday.

UNICEF said in a statement that since June 2021, the organization has provided more than 100 million vaccines in Bangladesh from various sources approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Out of 100 million dose vaccines provided by UNICEF, more than 50 million vaccines have been collected through CoVAX facility. Apart from these vaccines, the Bangladesh government has collected a large number of vaccines through various bilateral agreements.

This vaccine consignment will accelerate the goal of bringing at least 80 percent of the people of Bangladesh under vaccination by June 2022. As of December 26 this year, 28.44 percent of the total population of Bangladesh has received the second dose of vaccine.

Sheldon Yate, UNICEF Representative in Bangladesh, said the most effective way to end the epidemic was to ensure equal rights and increase vaccination rates worldwide. It is important to collect vaccines from producers and distribute them to every corner of Bangladesh.

UNICEF has been working around the world to provide the Covid-19 vaccine under the CoVAX facility since February 2021, which is the largest and most complex delivery event in the history of vaccination in the world.
