Rafiqul Haque 'Dadu Bhai' is no more

Popular children's Author, rhymer, children's organizer, playwright, and veteran journalist Rafiqul Haque 'Dadu Bhai' is no more.

He died at his home on Sunday (October 10) at 11 am. At the time of his death, he was 84 years, 9 months, and 2 days old.

Rafiqul Haque's wife has confirmed the news of Dadu Bhai's death to the media.

It is learned that Rafiqul Haque was suffering from various complications due to compulsion. He was hospitalized with coronavirus twice in a row last year. Although he recovered and joined the workplace Jugantar. But later he totally fell on the bed at Mugda's house about six months ago due to various complications including old age. He had a stroke before he died.

Rafiqul Haque was born on January 8, 1937. His village home is in Kamalkachna, Rangpur. He has two sons and one daughter. The eldest son is an American expatriate.

Rafiqul Haque was the founder of 'Chander Haat', a children's organization. Earlier, under his plan and supervision, a children's page called 'Chander Haat' was published in the daily Purbodesh. Since then he has been known as 'Dadu bhai'.

For his important contribution to Bengali children's literature, he received many awards and honors including Bangla Academy Award, Bangladesh Children's Academy Award, Agrani Bank Children's Literature Award, Chandrabati Academy Award, All India Children's Literature Award.

He has been the feature editor of the daily Jugantar. He was the executive editor of daily Rupali, established in the nineties. Before that he was the executive editor of the daily Janata. He also worked in Daily Lal Sabuj, Azad, Bangladesh Observer. He was also the editor of Kishore Bangla, a popular weekly for children and teenagers.
