We need to be more focused on training: Chief of Army

The Prime Minister is doing everything possible to modernize the army and build its capacity. We are getting all our needs. We need to be more focused on training. We are increasing the capacity we need to keep pace with the times and we will continue to do so. This is an ongoing process, said Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed.

The army chief made the remarks at a distribution of relief items and winter clothes among 400 needy people in Dighirpar area of Shahbazpur village in Shahbazpur union of Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria on Sunday (January 2) at around 2pm.

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said that Bangladesh Army is now the number one peacekeeping country in the world. Being at number one proves that we have done very well in the UN. In its continuity, we have been able to take the number one position.

The Army Chief further said that the Bangladesh Army is now giving utmost importance to training. When we go out for training, we always try to stand by the people. In its continuation we are giving free treatment here, distributing medical supplies. We provided food and blankets for the poor. All these efforts are not limited to this, at the same time we are continuing our small efforts all over the country where our forces are deployed. This effort will continue until our training is over.

Earlier, when the Army Chief arrived at Shahbazpur, he was welcomed by Major General Mohammad Jahangir Harun, GOC of 33 Infantry Division and Area Commander of Comilla. He later inspected the activities of the free medical camp conducted by 35 Field Ambulance in Comilla Cantonment.
