Fire at Kaptan Bazar under control, 1 killed

The fire at Kaptan Bazar Kasaipatti in the capital Dhaka has been brought under control. Fire service personnel have recovered the body of a person involved in the fire. However, the identity of the deceased was not known.

The fire broke out at 4:45 am on Saturday (January 8). After receiving the news, 12 units of the fire service brought the fire under control after more than an hour.

Dewan Azad, the duty officer in the control room of the fire service and civil defense, confirmed the fire.

Dewan Azad said the body of a man was recovered while dumping at the spot around 7:30 am. The search for the fire service is ongoing. The name of the deceased has not been identified yet. He is thought to have been working in a wholesale store.

Initially, the fire service was unable to determine the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
