Strict restrictions in a day or two: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Malek said the number of dengue cases in the country has increased alarmingly. Strict restrictions will be imposed within a day or two as per the recommendation of the technical committee to prevent the infection.

He made the remarks at a distribution of winter clothes at the Shuvro Center in Garpara, Manikganj on Saturday (January 8).

The minister further said that the number of people affected by corona in the country is 400 times more than before. However, the situation is not yet such as to close the educational institution. If the rate of infection increases further, a decision will be taken in this regard.

Zahid Malek said hospitals have been instructed to be ready again as coronary infections have increased. Omicron will also be dealt with like Delta. However, if the patients are more than the capacity then that will be a big problem. Everyone has to follow the hygiene rules to avoid that problem.

Referring to the non-compliance of health rules in shopping malls including the ongoing UP elections, the health minister said the country would be threatened if the rules were not followed.
