2 killed in Tongi train accident including 1 women

Two people were killed in a separate train accident at Tongi in Gazipur district. Railway police could not immediately reveal the names of the victims.

The accidents took place at 10:30 pm on Sunday (January 9) in Gazibari, a new market in Tongi and around 12 noon in Madhumita Gate area. Railway police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka for autopsy.

Tongi Railway Police Sub-Inspector Nur Mohammad Khan said the Dhaka-bound Parabat Express from Sylhet was passing through Tongi's new market Gazibari area around 10:30 pm. At that time a woman was seriously injured in the collision with the train. She was later rescued by locals and taken to hospital, where she died. On the other hand, an unidentified man was killed when another train hit him at Madhumita Gate area around 12 midnights. The area is under Railway Police Airport and they have been informed.

He said the woman's body was recovered and sent to Dhaka for autopsy.
