Fire at the cotton godown in Gazipur

A cotton godown in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur has caught fire. The accident took place at Fulbaria Padmapara Bazar of the Upazila around 7 am on Monday (January 10).

Saiful Islam, a ware house inspector at the Kaliakair Fire Service station, said a fire broke out at a cotton godown in Joynal Abedin around 7am on Monday. At first, the locals failed to put out the fire and informed the fire service. Upon receiving the news, two units of the fire service reached the spot and brought the fire under control after working for one hour. At that time all the cotton in the godown was burnt. However, it is believed that some boys were carrying fire nearby, the fire may have started from there. The extent of the damage caused by the burnt goods could not be ascertained immediately.
