Students do not need to register to be vaccinated

Students will no longer need to register for the coronavirus vaccine. From now on, students will be vaccinated only if they prove their identity, said Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni.

She made the remarks at a briefing at the Secretariat on Monday (January 10).

The education minister said, "I will not close the educational institutions now. The educational institutions will continue as they were in a limited range." Those who have been vaccinated with one dose by January 12 will come to class, the rest will take classes online and submit assignments. If everyone gets at least one dose of the vaccine, they will be able to take physical classes from then on.

At the press conference, the education minister said that the total number of students aged 12 to 18 in the country is 1 crore 16 lakh 23 thousand 322 people. Of these, 44 lakh have been vaccinated with the first dose and 4 lakh 19 thousand 554 people have been vaccinated with the second dose. A total of 48 lakh 19 thousand 544 people have been vaccinated. The first dose is left for 75 lakh 54 thousand 606 people.

The minister said that the vaccination has to be completed by January 15 in 397 upazilas, January 17 in 3 upazilas, January 20 in 56 upazilas, January 22 in 15 upazilas, January 25 in 35 upazilas and January 31 in 11 upazilas.
