The International Trade Fair will be held at the Bangabandhu
Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal. As coronavirus
infections continue to increase in the country, including Omicron, the
government has issued 11 directives and restrictions across the country from
January 13.
Abdul Latif Boxi, senior information officer at the commerce
ministry, confirmed the matter on Tuesday (January 11th).
Abdul Latif Boxi said that the educational institutions are
being kept open in compliance with the rules of hygiene. The government's
notification did not say whether the fair would be closed. The fair will be
held in compliance with the hygiene rules.
He said the number of stalls has been limited this year. There
are all kinds of arrangements has been made to insure safety and hygiene. The
fair will be closed if the National Committee announces any closure.
A notification was issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday
evening. Inter-ministerial meeting to review outbreak of new variant of
coronavirus Omicron and the transmission of the disease in the country, considering
the socio-economic condition of the country, economic activities and overall
situation, it has been requested to follow 11 guidelines in the overall
activities / operations from 13th January till further orders.
On January 1, the Prime Minister inaugurated the 26th edition of the trade fair through a video conference from her official residence Ganabhaban. At the same time, the Prime Minister announced 'ICT Products and Services' as 'Product of the Year 2022' to encourage exports in line with the export policy.
