The government has issued a notice directing to take half
the capacity of trains, buses and launches to control the situation as the
deadly coronavirus (Covid-19) infection is on the rise in the country. As per
the instructions, it has already been decided to transport half the passengers
in compliance with the hygiene rules without increasing the train fare.
However, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Bangladesh Road
Transport Owners Association are going to sit in the meeting to transport half
of the passengers in compliance with the health rules.
The meeting will be held at the BRTA office in the capital's
Banani around 2.30 pm on Wednesday (January 12), said BRTA chairman Nur
Mohammad Majumder. He said the decision would be taken in the public interest.
He said the meeting would also discuss how it would be
possible to vaccinate transport drivers and workers quickly. At the same time,
there will be a discussion on how to control the Covid-19 infection in the
country by following the health rules.
