The verdict in the murder case of retired Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan will be announced on January 31. Cox's Bazar District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail fixed the date of the verdict. Prosecutor Faridul Alam confirmed the matter.

Following the testimony of 65 witnesses, arguments began in the court of Judge Mohammad Ismail on Sunday and continued until January 12. The judge fixed the date of the verdict after presenting the arguments of the state and the defendants.

On July 31, 2020, Major Sinha was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur checkpost in Teknaf. Sinha's elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdousi filed a case against the then OC of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep and Liakat, in-charge of Baharchhara Investigation Center.

Three police sources, including three members of the Armed Police Battalion, were later arrested. After more than four months of investigation, on 13 December last year, the investigating agency RAB filed charges against 15 people.

Of these, 12 accused gave confessional statements under section 164. On June 27, the court framed charges against 15 accused in the case.
