We desperately need research on health: PM

We are lagging behind in health research. A handful of physicians regularly do research. We are taking action, in this case too. We desperately need research on health. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that we are moving ahead in research in other fields.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while inaugurating the newly constructed National Science and Technology Complex through video conference on Thursday morning.

"There is very little research on health in our country," he said. We have very few doctors who are doing research. Physicians are not as interested in research as serving patients.

The Prime Minister further said, "We are giving grants to the students of the country. Giving books for free, doing everything. But I have especially emphasized on science. Separate fellowships are being offered for everyone to come forward in science research. MPhil, PhD, PhD North level students and researchers are being given fellowships. Countries that are advancing in scientific research are able to make rapid economic progress. We need science research to improve.
