From today, the Supreme Court's Appellate Division and the
High Court Division will conduct virtual justice due to the increasing number
of Covid infection. In the meantime, the virtual trial has started in the
Appellate Division from 9 am.
The trial began at 9am on Wednesday (January 19) in a
six-judge appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui. The
virtual trial will start from 10:30 am in the High Court Division.
Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui yesterday decided to
virtually conduct the proceedings of the Appellate Division and the High Court
Division of the Supreme Court. Later, the Registrar General of the Supreme
Court Mohammad Ali Akbar issued a separate notification in this regard.
The two notifications said that the judicial proceedings of
all the benches of the Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the
Supreme Court will be conducted using virtual presence using information
technology from next Wednesday (January 19) considering the current covid
situation.
Yesterday morning, Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui said
that the way corona infection is increasing, we have to go virtually. Thirteen
judges of the High Court Division were infected by Coronavirus. Many staff of
the Supreme Court have also been affected. In such a situation, it will be
difficult to conduct court proceedings in physical presence. Meanwhile, many
lower court judges have also been affected by the corona.
