Degree students of 7 government colleges affiliated to the
Dhaka University (DU) have blocked the Nilkhet junction of the capital in
protest of the sudden suspension of ongoing examinations without prior notice. Today,
Saturday (January 22) at 9 am, the students who came to the center to take the
exam blocked the Nilkhet turn.
The agitating students said that they came to know by
appearing at the examination center that the examination has been postponed.
Today was their last test.
They complained that the second year examination was
supposed to be held in 2018 and finally after much delay it was about to end.
Although the test started on November 21 and supposed to end today, but it has
been postponed. The degree examinations of seven colleges were to be held at
Eden College Center.
When asked, Dr. Abdul Quddus Sikder, Secretary of Dhaka College
Teachers 'Council and General Secretary of Seven College Teachers' Association,
said, "We have talked to the Controller of Examinations of Dhaka
University." He said the test was stopped verbally, no notice was given.
We do not expect such behavior. Students have come from far and wide to take
the test. Moreover, today was their last test. The next decision will be taken
after discussing the matter with the coordinators of seven colleges.
