SUST students on hunger strike, 14 in hospital

The ongoing movement demanding the resignation of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Farid Uddin Ahmed, 24 students are determined to continue their hunger strike. In between most of the students have been admitted to the hospital.

As of Saturday morning (January 22), 14 people had to be hospitalized after 3 days of starvation. And almost everyone else has to push saline in their body.

It is learned that 24 people went on hunger strike but one of them had to go home due to his father's illness. By Saturday morning, almost all of the remaining 23 people had fallen ill. Fourteen have been admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Jalalabad Ragib Rabeya Hospital and Mound Edora Hospital. At around 11 a.m., a female student fainted and was taken to hospital. The rest of them is being given saline into their body.

Two ambulances have been kept on campus to take the sick students to the hospital in need.
