Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina has remarked that the injured on August 15, 1975 survived
due to the bravery of the police. She made the remarks while inaugurating
Virtual Police Week from Ganabhaban on Sunday (January 23).
The Prime
Minister said that when the coronavirus appeared, the police force delivered
food to people's homes, provided treatment to the patients. When the relatives
left the bodies, the police buried the bodies at the risk of their own lives. I
sincerely thank all of them for their dedicated service to humanity. Moreover,
the police force, especially women members, has been highly praised in UN
peacekeeping missions. I thank you for that.
"Another
thing we would like to thank the police for is that the BNP always does
destructive things," she said. They have done various things like arson,
cutting down trees, cutting down roads. They even attacked the police. The
manner in which they brutally beat a policeman cannot really be described in
words. By doing such heinous deeds they wanted to create a turbulent
environment in the country. They have killed uncountable number of people. At
that time the police force dealt with the situation very efficiently and
brought peace and security in the lives of the people. They did it at the risk
of their own lives.
She
further said that Emergency Service 999 - through this service today the police
force is able to stand by the people quickly. This has increased people's trust
and confidence in the police. Police are on full duty in Rohingya camps.
Bangladesh has got the status of a developing country and we will move forward
as a developing country. We want to build Bangladesh as a developed,
prosperous, golden Bangladesh. The police force is playing appropriate role in
achieving this goal.
