Three passengers of an auto rickshaw were killed when a
Barendra Express train collided with them at Darwani Level Crossing in
Nilphamari. The deceased were all workers of Uttara EPZ. Four others were
injured at the time.
The incident took place around 7:30 am on Wednesday (January
26). The names of the dead were not immediately known.
Amir Ali, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service and
Civil Defense, confirmed the information.
He said one died at the scene and two died on the way to
hospital. Besides, two injured have been taken to Nilphamari General Hospital
and two others to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
According to fire service sources, some workers of Uttara
EPZ were going to work in an autorickshaw in the morning. At that time, the
auto rickshaw was crossing the level crossing at the doorway of
Nilphamari-Saidpur railway when the Barindra Express train from Nilphamari to
Rajshahi pushed the auto rickshaw.
