Supreme Court is not sitting today paying homage to Justice Nazmul Ahsan

In honor of the late Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan, the proceedings in both the divisions of the Supreme Court will be closed today (February 6). The announcement was made by Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui on the advice of the Attorney General and lawyers before the commencement of the proceedings of the Appellate Division on Sunday.

Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan was appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court Division on April 18, 2010. Two years later, on 15 April 2012, he was appointed as a Permanent Judge of the High Court Division.

At the end of almost 10 years, on January 9, Justice Nazmul Ahasan was appointed as the judge of the Appellate Division along with three others. According to the notification, the appointment is to be effective from the day of swearing in. But at that time he was in hospital with corona. The other three judges are conducting the proceedings in the Appellate Division by taking their oath. But Justice Nazmul Ahasan could no longer take the oath.

He died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib University Hospital on Friday (February 4) at 6:15 am.
