BNP will not propose names to the search committee

The BNP has expressed reluctance to propose names to the search committee. The party's secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that in Appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and Commissioner the BNP will not propose any names to the newly formed search committee.

He was responding to a question from reporters after visiting Abdul Aziz, Natore's Gurudaspur Upazila President, who is undergoing treatment at BRB Hospital in the capital's Panthapath on Monday morning.

Claiming that everyone in the search committee is involved in the politics of Awami League, Mirza Fakhrul said, "The search committee is just for the show, BNP will not suggest any name in it." The people will not allow any election under the Awami League government. Elections must be held under a neutral government.

He said the search committee is working to set up another Huda commission to keep the Awami League in power. So the BNP has no interest or expectation about the search committee.

BNP organizing secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, BNP chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan and other Natore BNP leaders were present at the time.
