EC search committee meeting again today

The second meeting of the search committee formed to recommend names for the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners is being held today.

The second meeting of the committee will be held on Tuesday (February 8) at 4:30 pm at the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court.

Earlier, the committee held its first meeting at the same place on February 6. The meeting was chaired by Justice Obaidul Hasan, the Chairman of the Search Committee and attended by High Court Justice SM Quddus Zaman, Auditor General and Comptroller Muslim Chowdhury, Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Sohrab Hossain, former Election Commissioner Muhammad Sohul Hossain and Fiction Professor Anwara Syed Haque.

The term of the current Election Commission (EC) headed by KM Nurul Huda is coming to an end on February 14. As per the rules, a new EC will be formed before that. And with that goal in mind the new search committee has started working to form a new Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners.
