Daily global COVID-19 death toll, caseload rise

In the last 24 hours, 10,056 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 1,900,385 died from the pandemic. The US has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period. 

Earlier on Tuesday, 1,486,377 COVID-19 patients were detected while 7,959 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide. 

As of Wednesday morning (16-02-2022), a total of 416,015,207 people has been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 5,856,698 while 338,778,812 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

The US has registered 2,202 deaths and 94,818 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 949,248 and counting the overall caseload to 79,629,064 in the country due to the pandemic so far. 

Brazil has seen the second-highest death toll of 909 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 639,822. The total number of cases has exceeded 27,664,958 with 123,827 new infections. 

Russia has registered the third-highest death toll of 704 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 341,635 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 14,480,596 with 166,631 new cases. 

In India, 515 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 509,903. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 42,721,845 as 28,902 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

France has reported 142,253 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 21,877,555. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 135,579 with 390 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours. 

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 222 countries and territories around the world.
