Anti-drug operation in capital, 51 detained

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 51 people on charges of buying, selling and consuming drugs in anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital.

DMP Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations (DC) Faruk Hossain has confirmed this information in the media on Wednesday morning.

He said drugs were recovered from the areas in the capital from 6 am on Tuesday to the same time on Wednesday.

At the time 5,529 pieces of yaba, 50 grams of heroin, 10 kg 640 grams of cannabis, 20 bottles of Phensidyl and 20 narcotic injections were recovered from them.

41 cases have been filed against the arrested under the Narcotics Control Act. The operation was carried out as part of the DMP's regular anti-drug drive, the police official said.
