Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen expressed doubts that geopolitical tensions, including the situation in Ukraine, could affect international commitments to climate finance.

He made the remarks at a session on climate change at the Munich Security Conference in Germany on Friday (February 18th). The 58th Munich Security Conference will run until February 20.

Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Ali said that Bangladesh is one of the countries most affected by climate change. The country is currently chairing the Climate Vulnerable Forum. 140 crore people live in this forum in 55 countries. But they account for only five percent of total carbon emissions.

Momen said countries that emit more carbon need to commit to controlling it. Wealthy countries will keep their promise to provide 100 billion in funding every year. It will give that money to developing countries.

Dr. Momen emphasizes the need for green technology in developing countries for renewable energy. He reiterated the need for global partnerships to mobilize funding and technology for green change.
