New Election Commissioners to take oath today

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Election Commission (EC) headed by former senior secretary Kazi Habibul Awal will be held on Sunday. The Chief Justice will administer the oath to the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners in the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court at 4.30 pm today.

Newly appointed commission member Mohammad Alamgir confirmed the matter on Saturday (February 26th).

He said, "I first came to know through you that the President has appointed me as the Election Commissioner." Our oath tomorrow at 4:30 pm. Then on Monday we will do the office.

On Saturday afternoon, former senior secretary Kazi Habibul Awal was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and a five-member election commission was appointed by President Mohammad Abdul Hamid. The other four election commissioners under his leadership are retired District and Sessions Judge Begum Rashida Sultana, Brigadier General (retd) Ahsan Habib Khan, retired Senior Secretary Mohammad Alamgir and Anisur Rahman.
