Next 24 hours 'crucial period': Zelenskiy

In a phone call with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday (27 February) evening, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he believes the next 24 hours will be a crucial period for Ukraine as fighting continues across the country.

In response, Boris Johnson said that he would do all he could to help ensure defensive aid from the UK and allies reached Ukraine, reports The Guardian.

Johnson praised Zelenskiy's leadership since Russia's invasion, according to a UK government spokesperson.

The UK has also said it will send £40m more in aid to provide vital medical supplies and assistance to Ukraine, widening economic and military support to bolster the Ukrainian resistance to the Russian invasion.
