Bangladesh women’s cricket team lost to Pakistan by just 5
runs in the warm-up match of ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. On the day of Farzana
Haque's impeccable innings of 61 runs, the Tigers did not see any victory for a
while.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Rain and
hostile weather reduced the length of the match to 42 overs, as a result, the
match was played with the D/L method. Pakistan scored 199 runs after losing 7
wickets in the stipulated overs.
Aliya Riaz remained unbeaten with a highest of 45 runs for
the team. She hit 7 fours off 50 balls. Besides, Javeria Khan scored 44 runs
off 62 balls. Ritu Moni and Fariha Trisna took three wickets each for
Bangladesh.
Bangladesh came very close to the desired aim by playing
with the goal of victory. However, with only 5 runs away from victory, Nigar
Sultana Jyoti’s team was all out with 4 balls left. Before being bowled out in
41.2 overs, the Tigresses scored 194 runs.
Fargana Hoque was brilliant with the bat in this match. She
hit 6 fours and scored 71 runs off 95 balls. Besides, Rumana Ahmed scored 30
runs from 36 balls. For Pakistan, Fatima Sana took four wickets and Nashra
Sandhu took three.
