Anti-drug drives in capital, 53 detained

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 53 people in anti-drug operations in different parts of the capital.

A large quantity of drugs including ice was recovered from the detainees during the operation. 33 cases have been filed against them in different police stations of DMP.

This information was confirmed by the Media and Public Relations Department of DMP on Saturday morning.

According to the DMP, they were arrested by conducting raids in different areas in the capital from 8 am on Friday to the same time on Saturday as part of a regular anti-drug operation by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

A total of 1,823 pieces of yaba, 131 grams of heroin, 15 kg 736 grams of cannabis, 360 bottles of phencidyl, 95 injections, 18 cans of beer and 5 grams of ice were seized from them.

A total of 33 cases have been filed against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
