A writ petition has been filed seeking directions to close
all educational institutions during the holy month of Ramadan. The writ has
challenged the validity of the decision to keep the primary school open till
20th Ramadan.
Advocate Younus Ali Akand filed the writ petition in the
concerned branch of the High Court on Sunday (March 27).
After the inter-ministerial meeting in the conference room
of the cabinet department on February 27, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said
that, the educational institutions usually remain closed in the month of
Ramadan, but this time there will be classes. The normal holidays of Eid will
remain in force.
According to an order issued by the Department of Primary
Education last Thursday (March 24), classes in government primary schools will
run from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm during the month of Ramadan. During this time,
teachers will get 30 minutes break for praying.
According to the office order, direct class activities in
government primary schools will continue till 20th Ramadan. In the month of
Ramadan only, it was requested to follow the instructions for conducting direct
