Corona infection is under control in the country, but more
awareness is needed to maintain this control, said Health and Family Welfare
Minister Zahid Malek. He also urged all to wear masks regularly and get vaccinated
to control corona. He says 75 percent of the country's people have been
vaccinated. In all, more than 23 crore vaccines have been administered in the
country so far.
He was speaking at the 6th International Plastic Surgery
Conference and the inauguration of the Mujib Corner and Bangabandhu Gallery at
the Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute on Tuesday (March 29) at 12 noon.
The minister said Bangladesh has received 290 million corona
vaccine through different countries. About 97 to 98 percent of our front liners
have been vaccinated. Now the death toll in Corona is almost zero, and the
infection rate has dropped below one percent.
He said the country's vaccination program has been so
successful that it ranks eighth out of 200 countries in the world. At the same
time, Bangladesh has taken the first place in South Asia in corona control.
He also said that since the establishment of Sheikh Hasina
National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in 2016, 1 lakh people have
availed services at OPD (Outpatient Department). So far 10,000 people have gone
through operation on in this institute and 13,500 people have received
emergency services.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was also present on the
occasion through video conference. Also present among others were Prof. Dr.
Samanta Lal Sen, Director, Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Institute, Prof. Dr.
Abul Kalam Azad, President, Society of Plastic Surgeons Bangladesh, Prof. Dr.
Hedayat Ali Khan, Acting Secretary and many more.
