From Sunday (April 3), the first day of the holy month of
Ramadan and the first working day of the week, bank transactions will continue
for 5 hours. Transactions can be done from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. However, there
will be a break for prayers from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm. The bank will be open till
4 pm to complete the ancillary work.
A circular signed by Mohammad Anwarul Islam, General Manager,
Offsite Supervision, Bangladesh Bank, has been sent to the managing directors
and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks operating in the country on
Wednesday (March 30).
The circular states that the schedule of offices and
transactions of all the banking companies operating in Bangladesh during the
holy month of Ramadan 1443 AH is as follows. Sunday to Thursday from 9.30 am to
4.00 pm (1.15 pm to 1.30 pm with break of Zuhr prayers). Friday and Saturday
are weekly holidays. Although a break has been fixed for the Zuhr prayers from
01.15 minutes to 01.30 minutes, transactions will continue through internal
coordination as per pre-Ramadan rules.
After the holy month of Ramadan has passed, the bank's
office and transaction schedule will return to pre-Ramadan.
