Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said, "Take my number and
let me know if the price goes up somewhere due to extortion. I will personally
talk to the home minister. Action will be taken against extortionists."
The Commerce Minister said this after inspecting the Kawran
Bazaar in the capital on Sunday (April 3).
The minister said he saw some inconsistencies in the rice
market. Coarse rice is 43-44 rupees in wholesale, it will increase further in
retail. But now no one eats thick rice now a day. Rickshaw pullers also look
for thin rice. We want to increase the monitoring in retail, the task force
will work for this.
Tipu Munshi said, "We are coming to the market and sitting
with the traders again and again as the prices of products have gone up in the
market. Although there is not much problem in wholesale in the market, there is
a big difference in price between retail and wholesale. "
Regarding the prices of fruits and raw materials, he said,
"Eggplant is 50 rupees in Dhaka and 15 rupees in Rangpur." We want to
increase monitoring when trucks arrive at the market at dawn. This will explain
the difference in price.
Regarding the sudden increase in the price of meat, he said
that the price of meat is controlled by the city corporation. We want to sit with
them.
Addressing the traders, he said, "Allah will not
forgive you." Where prices fall in all countries of the world during the
festival, our prices increased here. In our neighboring India, the prices of
various products of worship have come down and here we have increased the
prices during the month of fasting. Will god forgive you?
Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Director General of
the Consumer Protection Department AHM Safiquzzaman, Director Manzur Mohammad Shahriar
and other businessmen were present on the occasion.
