12 projects approved at ECNEC meeting

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has given final approval to 12 projects. The total cost of all these projects is 12 thousand 16 crores 88 lakh taka. Of this, government funding is Tk 7,990 crore 14 lakh, foreign funding is Tk 3,000 crore 39 lakh and the company's own funding is Tk 594 crore 43 lakh.

The approval was given at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Shesh Hasina on Tuesday (April 5) via video conferencing from Ganobhaban.

Approved projects are: Urban Development and City Governance (UDCG) Project, Jhenaidah District Rural Infrastructure Development Project and Rural Infrastructure Development Project (Phase II) of Greater Pabna and Bogra Districts.

President Mohammad Abdul Hamid approved the construction / reconstruction project of Shilpakala Academy and Regional Cultural Center, Mithamoin, Kishoreganj Project, Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute (Phase II), Government Children's Family and Chhotamani Nibas Hostel Construction / Reconstruction Project is approved.

4 projects of the Ministry of Water Resources were approved. These are Irrigation Management, Coastal Dam Rehabilitation in Tazumuddin and Lalmohan Upazilas, Development and Conservation of Drainage System, Irrigation projects in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona district and River protection works, wave protection and canal re-excavation projects were approved in 10 upazilas of Kishoreganj district.

The project to expand and strengthen the electrical infrastructure in the DESCO area in Dhaka and the project to set up the Manikganj plant of Essential Drugs Company Limited were approved.

Planning Minister MA Mannan said a total of 12 projects have been approved at today's ECNEC meeting. The total cost of 12 projects is Tk 12,017 crore. Considering the importance of the country, the projects were approved at the ECNEC meeting.
