Parliament has taken the initiative to elect a new Prime
Minister again after Imran Khan lost his Prime Ministership in a no-confidence
vote. The acting speaker of Pakistan has called a session again next Monday to
elect the prime minister. Meanwhile, the former prime minister's party has lost
a majority in parliament, and its opposition has grown stronger.
With the ouster of Imran Khan, the new question is, in whose
hands is Pakistan's masnad? After the Khan era, is it going to be the beginning
of the Sharif era again? The acting speaker of Pakistan called a session again
on Monday to answer that question. The new prime minister will be elected in
Monday's session of the lower house of parliament, the speaker said.
Speaker Ayaz said that the names of the candidates for the
post of Prime Minister have to be nominated by 11 am on Monday.
After going through various stages of drama in the 13-hour
marathon parliament session, Imran Khan finally lost his seat in the
no-confidence vote.
