Strict actions will be taken if BNP chooses destructive path: Obaidul Quader

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that if the BNP chooses a destructive path again in the name of movement, a strong resistance will be formed with the people.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader issued the warning in a statement on Monday in the wake of the BNP secretary general's announcement that the party would emerge as a strong opposition party in a short time.

He said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's recent declaration of the BNP as a strong opposition party proved once again that their powerlessness, weakness, incapacity and cruelty had been ruthlessly manifested.

Obaidul Quader said that, Mirza Fakhrul's comment on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's remarks on the absence of a strong opposition party showed that the BNP is in fact powerless at present.

According to the tradition of parliamentary democracy, the National Parliament is the place to establish the strength of the opposition. The general secretary of the Awami League said in a statement that this is why it is necessary for a political party to ensure that it gets the required number of seats in the National Assembly in order to establish itself as a strong opposition party.
