NBR received an average daily VAT of crore Tk in April

During the whole month of April, VAT of around crores of Tk has been collected on a daily basis. The people concerned think that so much has been achieved due to the huge market impact of Boishakh and Eid this year.

Abdul Mannan Sikder, Member (VAT Implementation) of the organization, said this at a function organized on the occasion of lottery draw of EFD invoices at the conference room of National Board of Revenue (NRB) on Thursday (May 5).

Abdul Mannan said hotel-restaurant sales were low during the Covid period. Sales of traders increased in April. The statistics we have shown that crores of Tk of VAT have been collected every day. In April, products worth 405 crore 35 lakh 8 thousand taka has been sold. Against which, NBR has received an average daily VAT of more than Tk 97.72 lakh.

"We believe that the popularity of EFD machines will increase and the desired goals will be met," he said. Traders will make good use of EFDs. And buyers will be aware of their invoice collection.

In response to a question on VAT evasion, the NBR member said that the collection of VAT this month can be said to be satisfactory. And there is always a tendency for VAT evasion. We are trying to convince the traders that you will collect VAT from the consumers. Make sure that you do it properly. Many are giving correctly, while some may be cheating. Legal action is being taken against those who are evading. We want everyone to obey the law.
