Road accident kills a policeman in Moulvibazar

A policeman on duty was killed in Moulvibazar by a Sylhet bound night coach. Two others were seriously injured. The accident took place at around 4 am on Sunday (May 7) at Sherpur Muktijoddha Golchattar in Sadar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Rakib Ali Rana. His house is in Doarabazar area of Sunamganj. The other two injured policemen are Kamranur Rahman and Anis Ahmed. The injured are being treated at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Sherpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Parimal Chandra Dev told reporters that a Sylhet-bound night coach of Jalalabad Paribahan lost control at around 4 am and went to the roundabout after crushing the policemen on duty at Sherpur Point.

A team of highway police immediately rescued them and sent them to Sylhet MAG Hospital. A policeman died on the way to the hospital. The other two injured policemen are currently undergoing treatment. Several passengers of the bus were also injured in the incident.
