MPO work in final stage, to be announced soon: Education Minister

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said that the work of MPO of private educational institutions is in the final stage and will be announced soon. She was responding to a question from reporters before attending the Awami League's tri-annual conference in Sherpur on Sunday (May 8) at 11am.

Also present at the time were District Awami League President, Whip of National Parliament Bir Muktijoddha Md Atiur Rahman Atik, Central Organizing Secretary of the party Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Cultural Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil MP, Member Marufa Akter Poppy and Vice Chairman Raymond Areng, Deputy Commissioner Md Mominur Rashid, Superintendent of Police Md Hasan Nahid Chowdhury and other political leaders.

The education minister said online applications for MPO registration have been taken from October 10 to 31 last year. There are more than four and a half thousand applications from lower secondary schools, secondary schools, higher secondary colleges and degree colleges. Besides, about four thousand madrasas and technical education institutes have applied. Of the total 8,500 institutions that have applied, 6,500 are new educational institutions. Verification and selection is going on about the number of educational institutions that can be registered as MPO. This will be announced soon.

She also mentioned that, there will be no harm to the education system, if the new education curriculum is introduced.
