Haji Selim surrenders in court

Awami League MP Haji Mohammad Selim, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in a corruption case, have surrendered in the lower court.

Haji Selim along with his lawyer appeared at the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-7 on Sunday (May 22) afternoon. He is scheduled to surrender in the court of Judge Shahidul Islam.

Earlier, Haji Mohammad Selim had applied to the Judicial Court to surrender and apply for bail. In addition, two more applications have been made for advanced Medical and First Class Division in Prisons.

Haji Selim's lawyer Shri Pran Nath mentioned in the application that Haji Selim has been voiceless for a long time due to bleeding in the brain during hard surgery in 2016. He has taken treatment in the country and abroad. Any kind of accidents can happen due to lack of treatment and his speechlessness while in jail. For this reason, I am applying for his bail on any condition. He will not be a fugitive if granted bail. Therefore, I am applying for his bail by surrendering on the condition of appeal.
