Tariffs imposed on more than two hundred luxury products

The National Board of Revenue has imposed regulatory duty (RD) on more than two hundred luxury and foreign goods. It is learned that these tariffs (RD) are imposed to reduce the import trend and ensure the safety of domestic products.

The information was revealed in a circular signed by NBR chairman Abu Hena Rahmatul Munim on Monday (May 23). In the notification, the regulatory tariff has been imposed from 5 percent to 20 percent. NBR's public relations department has confirmed the notification.

On the recommendation of Bangladesh Bank, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has issued a notification with such instructions to reduce the pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

Notable among the products are imported biscuits, chocolates, fruits of different varieties, juices and foreign made garments, raw materials of furniture etc.
