Due to Corona, the poverty rate of the country is greatly
affected. Although the poverty rate has increased a bit in the global epidemic,
Bangladesh has overcome that crisis a lot. Poverty rate According to the
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) 'Bangladesh Poverty Map 2016', the lowest
poverty rate in the country is in Gulshan (0.4 percent) and the highest in Char
Rajibpur of Kurigram district (79.8 percent).
In terms of districts, Narayanganj has the lowest 2.6 percent
and Bandarban has the highest poverty rate of 63.2 percent according to the 'Bangladesh
Poverty Map 2016'.
Meanwhile, in terms of divisions, the highest poverty rate
is in Rangpur (47.23 percent) and the lowest in Dhaka (16 percent). The rest of
the categories have poverty rates - Mymensingh (32.77 percent), Rajshahi (28
percent), Khulna (27.48 percent), Barisal (26.49 percent), Chittagong (18.43
percent), Sylhet (16.23 percent).
According to the statistics of 'Bangladesh Poverty Map 2016'
Chittagong division has the highest inequality in the number of upazilas in the
poverty rate group at the upazila level. According to the BBS Khana survey, the
overall poverty rate in rural areas of the country was 26.4% in 2016 and 24.5%
according to the 2018 GED-Sanem survey. But due to corona, this rate has
increased to 45.3% in 2020. The overall poverty rate in urban areas was 18.9
