EC meeting with EVM experts

The Election Commission (EC) is holding a meeting with experts, researchers and university technology experts related to Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

The EC met with the expert committee on Wednesday (May 25) morning.

EC officials said that political parties and various quarters have different views on the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections. To know more about this machine, Kazi Habibul Awal Commission sat in a meeting with experts to better understand the technical aspects of this machine with modern technology.

According to the concerned, about 30 people including the IT team of EVM related EC, former and current director of the project, former and current director general of NID wing, technology expert of the university were invited for the meeting. Among the invitees are Professor Zafar Iqbal of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Professor M Kaikobad of BUET, Dr Celia Shahnaz and Matin Saad Abdullah of BUET.

According to the EC, experts will see and give their opinion. We will also have our IT experts; they will also give their opinion on this issue. The commission will take their opinion on EVM. The meeting will highlight the overall technical aspects along with the EVM exhibition. The commission will then take the opinion of those concerned about the device.
