Awami League and BNP clash in Bogra, 10 injured

Clashes broke out between the Awami League and the BNP over the insulting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a BNP conference in Gabtali, Bogra. At least 10 people were reported killed in the clashes.

The clashes erupted on Sunday (May 29) at 11:30 am.

It is learned that the municipal Awami League called a protest rally at 11 am at Tinmatha corner of Gabtali. While some BNP leaders and activists were passing by, they had an argument with the Awami League leaders and activists which later turned into a clash. 10 people from both sides were injured in the incident. The clashes continued for about two hours.

Meanwhile, the situation is now under control, said Sirajul Islam, OC of Gabtali Model Police Station.

Suraiya Jerin Rony, joint secretary of the district Mahila Dal in her speech at the Gabtali Upazila BNP conference on Friday (May 27), slammed the prime minister, saying that if Sheikh Hasina came to Gabtali, she would be slapped. After this statement, Awami League and its affiliates held protest and demanded the arrest of Suraiya Jerin Rony.
