DU student dies after drowning in pond

Palash Ahmed, a third year student of Anthropology Department of Dhaka University, drowned while taking a bath in the pond of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall.

He died at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital on Sunday (May 29) at 2.25 pm. The matter was confirmed by the dean of the hall, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahim.

He said one of the resident students of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall drowned while taking a bath in the pond. His friends and hall students rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College. There he died while undergoing treatment at Life Support.

He went down to take a bath in the pond and drowned at around 12.30 pm. A fire brigade arrived to rescue him about 25 minutes after he drowned. By then he was already rescued by his friends and hall students. After the rescue, he was immediately sent to Dhaka Medical College and then rushed to Life Support. Later he died at 2:25 p.m.
