Budget session to be held today afternoon

The eighteenth session of the Eleventh National Assembly, i.e. the budget session, will begin on June 5 (Sunday) at 5 pm. President Mohammad Abdul Hamid convened the session on May 18 in accordance with the powers conferred by Article 72 (1) of the Constitution.

The budget for the financial year 2022-23 will be presented and passed in this session. On Thursday, June 9, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will present the budget proposal for the next financial year in the Parliament.

This important session is supposed to be long lasting. However, a meeting of the Parliamentary Working Advisory Committee chaired by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury will be held at 5 pm on Sunday to decide the proceedings of the session and how long it will last.

Earlier, the seventeenth session of the Eleventh National Assembly started on March 28 and lasted till April 6 for a total of 8 working days. The reports of 10 standing committees were presented in that session.

In addition, discussions were held on proposals (general) brought under Rule 147 of the Rules of Procedure. MP Shahjahan Khan raised the proposal.
