Russian citizen dies in Rooppur nuclear power project

Ivanov Anton, 33, a Russian national, died at the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Ishwardi, Pabna. His body was found in front of a Green City elevator at the nuclear power plant around 8pm on Sunday (June 12).

Anton was working as an installer in a company called Rosatom of Rooppur Nuclear Power Project.

Engineer Ashraful Islam, site director of the project, confirmed the matter.

Ishwardi Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arvind Sarkar told reporters that he fell from the elevator while returning to Green City Building No. 2 after buying food from Ivanov Restaurant at 8 pm. During this time, he vomited several times. After receiving the news, the doctor came and declared him dead.

He added that Ivanov's body was sent to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for autopsy. An unnatural death case has been registered in this incident.
