The number of illiterate and educated people in the country
can be ascertained through census, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni. As a
result of this digital census, it will be applied to research work, which will
play a helpful role in various plans in the field of education, she said.
The education minister said this while inaugurating the
program in the district on Wednesday (June 15) morning at her residence in
Chandpur city to record her name and address in the census.
The Education Minister said that the census will provide
accurate statistics on the rate of education and we will get an accurate
picture of the whole country. How many people are illiterate, how many are
educated and their socio-economic position that we get will be helpful in
adopting various action plans.
She further said that the information obtained from the
census would be useful for the country to move ahead irresistibly under the
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and to accelerate it further.
The census has started in this country for the first time
through digital system. About 6,000 workers are working in the week-long
census, which started in Chandpur as well as across the country, officials
said.
