A total of 25,981 pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia from
Bangladesh so far to perform Holly Hajj this year, said a daily bulletin related
to the annual Islamic pilgrimage on Monday night.
A total of 71 flights carried the pilgrims to their
destination in the last 16 days, including 39 flights from Biman Bangladesh
Airlines, 27 flights from Saudi Airlines, and five flights from Flynas Airlines.
Out of these pilgrims, 3,385 are under government management
and 25,981 are under private management.
Meanwhile, four Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far. They
are: Mst Ramuja Begum of Dhanpur of Comilla Adarsha Sadar Upazila, Md Helal
Uddin Mollah of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila, Nurul Amin of Noakhali district and Md
Jahangir Kabir of Chapainawabganj.
The holy Hajj is set to be held in Saudi Arabia on July 7
(Zilhaj 9) subject to the sighting of the moon.
This year, a total of 56,585 pilgrims, including 4,000 in
government and 53,585 in private management, are scheduled to travel to Saudi
Arabia for the holy pilgrimage.
The flight of Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia started on June
5. The last Hajj flight from Dhaka will leave on July 4.
A total of 128 flights will be operated from Bangladesh for
Hajj. Biman will carry Hajj passengers on 65 flights, Saudia on 51 flights and
Flynas on 12 flights.
