The intercity and local trains have resumed running on the
Dhaka-Mymensingh-Netrokona-Mohanganj railway line after five days of shutting
down due to the collapse of a railway bridge in floodwaters.
The train started on this railway on Thursday (June 23)
morning.
Barhatta station master Golam Rabbani said the Dhaka-bound
Haor Express train stuck at Mohanganj left today (Thursday) morning. Trains are
running normally on this route from today.
Earlier on June 18, the bridge of Railway No. 23 at Islampur
between Atitpur railway station in Mohanganj and Barhatta upazilas of the
district collapsed due to floodwaters.
As a result, train movement on this route was shut down. The
bridge collapsed, leaving the Dhaka-bound Haor Express at Mohanganj and a local
train bound for Mohanganj at Barhatta stuck. Five days after the incident,
trains were running from Barhatta station to Netrokona and across the country
including Dhaka and Mymensingh.
