PM criticized Yunus at the Padma Bridge opening ceremony

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke at the official inauguration of the Padma Bridge. In her inaugural address, she gave an overview of the manner in which the Padma Bridge was criticized and the way in which the Padma Bridge was built with the combined strength and courage of the people. At one point in her speech, the Prime Minister again sharply criticized Dr Muhammad Yunus.

In her speech, the Prime Minister said that when the World Bank came forward to help with the Padma Bridge, the tenure of an MD of a bank expired. Bangladesh Bank told him that he could not be the managing director of the bank as per the law. He was offered the position of Emeritus Advisor. But he rejected the offer and filed a lawsuit against the government. Not just the case, it was because of him the World Bank moved away from the Padma Bridge.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said not only that, other donor agencies had moved away from here. But we were determined. We have made the Padma Bridge a success today with the strength of the people.
