Man held for ‘Offensive comments’ on PM Hasina’s daughter

Police on Sunday detained a man in Gaibandha for making “offensive comments” about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Wazed Putul on social platform Facebook.

Rumon Sarkar Rony, 21, was arrested from Sundarganj municipal area, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarkar Iftekharul Mokaddem of Sundarganj police station, reports Bangla Tribune.

“Rony posted a status on his personal Facebook profile at around 9:25pm, making derogatory remarks about Saima Wazed Putul. We later raided his house, and arrested him,” said the OC.

He will be handed over to court on Monday morning

In this regard, Sundarganj upazila Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League Convener Abdullah Al Mehedi Russell filed a case against the government under Digital Security Act (DSA).
